Our biggest challenge is still the layout of small bathrooms. Here are some layout ideas and advice listed by our interior designer that can help you in the development of your project.

1. Add mirrors

Adding a mirror to a small bathroom can make it seem like you've doubled the square footage. Adding one or more mirrors above the vanity or along a long wall is an effective trick, used by our interior designer, to give your room an appearance of grandeur. Mirrors also have the property of reflecting natural light from the outside or that of your lights. They therefore give the impression that the room is brighter and more spacious.

2. The wall-mounted toilet

If the space in one of the walls is sufficient to integrate a water tank, the integration of a wall-mounted toilet will allow you to save space at floor level as well as for your legs. If ever it is not possible to install a wall-mounted toilet, consider attaching a wall cabinet above the bowl to create additional storage space. It is also possible to extend your vanity counter on a narrower section, depending on the layout of your bathroom.

3. Ditch the tub

Depending on the size of bath or shower you choose, a tub will definitely take up more space than a shower in terms of square feet of floor space. If you can choose between the two, it is better to opt for the shower if you want to maximize space. The shower is ideal for adults or for older people, it is easy to access and it is easy to add instruments to make it more ergonomic (grab bar, bench, etc.). If you opt for hardware on a mast with a spray nozzle, this configuration will allow you to use it, among other things, for cleaning animals. If you have small children and it is necessary to have a specific place for bath time, our interior designer will advise you to choose a bathtub model with lower walls. This will make your room more open and facilitate activities.

4. Studless Glass Panel

Shower curtains are an eyesore in a bathroom. For lack of budget or time, we choose them even if they stick to our skin or are painful to clean. In order to compensate for these famous curtains, you can follow our interior designer's tip and replace them with a frameless glass panel. Whether fixed or swivel, it will make your room brighter and more airy. Unlike curtains, glass panels are easy to maintain and simple to install. You can fix them in the floor and the ceiling so that it is fixed or fix a part and leave the opening hinged. If you want to make your job easier, avoid sliding glass doors because they are difficult to clean.

5. The continuous floor and the showers without threshold

Here is a realization of a bathroom with a shower without a threshold (Italian shower) made by an interior designer. Since you have no boundary between your shower and the rest of the bathroom, it is possible to apply the same ceramic or porcelain to the entire surface of your bathroom floor. You can push the concept even further by integrating a concealed or overflow drain for an even more refined and homogeneous design. On the maintenance side, this type of configuration is very practical!

6. Floating vanities and small sinks

Choose a pharmacy affixed to the wall or embedded in it. Opt for panels with a mirror finish to increase the brightness and give a feeling of grandeur to the room. In order to maximize storage and deposit surfaces, you can add a cupboard above the toilet, an alcove near the bath to place soap pots or even a shelf between the mirror and the vanity counter. add some decorations or put your toothbrush down. Incorporating a metal towel rack also helps keep the space tidy. If you ever run out of wall space, you can always install hooks behind the door.
