Do you have questions about adding color to certain rooms in your home? It's normal. There are a multitude of colors and possible finishes in the field of paint. When you choose a color, you have to think about the use of the room and thus make your choice. In addition, your decision must come from the heart since it is you who will evolve in this environment. Our interior designer will answer our customers' most frequently asked questions below.

The aspect of greatness

When you want to give the impression of expanding the room, it is not just the color that is at stake, but the contrast of the whole. A high contrast is created when you match black against white, like a tiled floor for example. The more contrast you have, the smaller the space seems to us because your eye has to work harder to distinguish the contrast. In this sense, low contrast would be white to white or cream to cream. This choice of pigments offers a feeling of lightness. The thing to avoid with low contrast rooms is that they become boring. The interior designer's trick is to add accent colors in colorful accessories. These items are easy to change and inexpensive.

The dark furniture

In Quebec, the northern climates do not allow us to receive a large amount of natural light and in winter we are even more limited. The advice of our interior designer is to remove certain elements on the walls in order to lighten the space. In addition, applying neutral colors like white, cream, pale gray on the walls that surround your darker furniture will give the room a sense of grandeur. Walls don't have to be white to be light. A taupe/beige like Benjamin Moore's White Goose (OC-17) or if you still want a crisp white that's still warm, try Oxford White (CC-30).

Accent walls are hugely popular and are fantastic if you have something to accent. One can accent a wall and put something fabulous on it like a large mirror or a piece of art. Trendy accent wall colors are deep, rich and dark, like Slate Gray (HC-166), Navy Blue (HC-154) and Cricket (CC-542). Alternatively, wallpaper is back and makes a great accent wall statement.
